Fork-tailed Flycatcher

Tyrannus savana

The Fork-tailed Flycatcher is a striking bird with a black and white plumage and a deeply forked tail. This species is known for its graceful aerial displays during courtship, where the male performs acrobatic flights to attract a mate. They are insectivorous birds, often catching prey on the wing, and are known for their distinctive call. Fork-tailed Flycatchers are migratory birds, breeding in South America and wintering in Central and North America. They prefer open habitats such as grasslands, savannas, and forest edges. Despite being widespread, their population is declining due to habitat loss and deforestation.
