Machlolophus holsti
The Formosan Yuhina, scientifically known as Machlolophus holsti, is a small songbird native to the mountains of Taiwan. It is characterized by its distinctive yellow plumage on the head and underparts, with a black mask around the eyes and a white throat. This species is known for its cheerful and melodious song, often heard in the dense forests and bamboo thickets where it resides. Formosan Yuhinas are social birds, often seen in small flocks as they forage for insects and small fruits. While their population is currently stable, habitat loss due to deforestation poses a potential threat to their future survival.
