Fosse's nightjar

Caprimulgus fossii

Fosse's nightjar (Caprimulgus fossii) is a nocturnal bird species found in the woodlands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. This medium-sized nightjar has cryptic plumage, with intricate patterns that provide excellent camouflage during the day. Its large eyes and wide gape enable it to catch insects on the wing during its crepuscular and nocturnal foraging flights. Fosse's nightjar is known for its distinctive churring call, which can often be heard at dusk and dawn. This species is a master of stealth and is well-adapted to its low-light environment, making it a fascinating subject of study for ornithologists and wildlife enthusiasts.
