Frances's Sparrowhawk, Tachyspiza francesiae, breeds in Madagascar and in the Comoros apart from Mohéli. It is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family, within the order Accipitriformes, and was described by Smith, A in 1834. The species was once placed in Accipiter. Its Madagascar form is restricted to that island, while the other forms occur in the Comoro Islands. The English name honours Lady Frances Cole, the wife of Cape Colony governor Galbraith Lowry Cole.
