Franklin's Gull

The Franklin's Gull is a medium-sized gull with a black hood, white eye ring, and pinkish legs. During the breeding season, its plumage is more distinctive with a dark gray mantle and a red bill. This gull is known for its graceful flight and buoyant, tern-like hovering. It breeds in colonies near marshes and lakes in the interior of North America and winters along the coasts of South America. Franklin's Gulls are opportunistic feeders, consuming a variety of food including insects, fish, and scavenged items. They are known for their distinctive vocalizations and are a common sight in their breeding and wintering grounds.
