Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker

Dendrocopos analis

The Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos analis) is a medium-sized woodpecker found in parts of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive plumage, with a fulvous or chestnut-colored breast and black and white barring on its back and wings. This woodpecker is often found in mature forests, where it forages for insects and grubs by drumming on tree trunks and probing into crevices with its long bill. It also excavates nest cavities in dead or decaying trees. The Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker is known for its loud, repetitive calls, often heard during the breeding season. While not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to its populations.
