Fulvous-crowned Scrub Tyrant, Euscarthmus meloryphus, is a passerine of the Tyrannidae family and breeds widely across South America. It occurs in a broad but broken range from Colombia and Venezuela through Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. The species lives in open, dry country, including scrub, shrubland, the margins of dry woodland, and fields or pasture with scattered thickets. It is a small tyrant flycatcher with the sexes alike, and the nominate form shows a drab brown crown with a weak crest and hidden rufous crown feathers.
