Fulvous Owl, Strix fulvescens, is a resident owl of Middle America, breeding from southern Mexico to El Salvador. It is found in cloud forest and other highland areas, including Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. A notable feature is its round head, which has no ear tufts. It is also known as the Guatemala barred owl. The species was described by Sclater and Salvin in 1868. Its range is restricted to upland regions, and it occurs at elevations from 1,200 to 3,100 metres.
