Garnet-throated Hummingbird, Lamprolaima rhami, is a hummingbird of middle America, breeding from central Mexico to Honduras. It is the sole species in its genus and occurs in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. It lives in tropical forest, cloudforest, pine-oak forest and scrub, mainly in the interior and along edges, at 1,200 to 3,000 m. In Honduras it is found only above 1,600 m. It shifts to lower elevations outside the breeding season. Males hold feeding territories, and the species takes nectar and small insects.
