Giant Coua

Giant Coua, Coua gigas, is a cuckoo found in western and southern Madagascar, where it lives in lowland dry forest and reaches up to 700 m. It is a member of the family Cuculidae and is the only species in its genus. A blue patch around the eye is one of its notable features, shared with other couas. It is recorded from both unlogged gallery forest and logged forest, and it has been noted in large, open forest with tall trees and little dense undergrowth.
