Giant Snipe, Gallinago undulata, is a South American breeding bird of wet grassland in the north and south-east of the continent. It is found in tall growth in swamps and flooded grasslands, and sometimes in dry savannah. Its breeding range includes Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, extreme north-eastern Brazil, eastern Bolivia, eastern Paraguay and south-east Brazil, with possible presence in Uruguay and north-eastern Argentina. It occurs from lowlands to 2,200 m. Its movements are not well understood, though it appears in some places after rain.
