Giant Swiftlet
Hirundapus giganteus
The Giant Swiftlet (Hirundapus giganteus) is a large species of swiftlet found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its impressive aerial acrobatics and distinctive loud calls. These swiftlets are predominantly black with a slightly paler throat and belly. They have a short, forked tail and a relatively large, robust body. Giant Swiftlets are commonly found in limestone caves and cliffs where they build their nests using saliva. They are highly adapted for aerial foraging and are often seen flying high above the forest canopy in search of flying insects. Despite their large size, these swiftlets are remarkably agile in flight, darting and twisting through the air with remarkable speed and precision.
