Gilded Sapphire, Hylocharis chrysura, is a hummingbird of South America, breeding from Bolivia through Brazil to Uruguay and northern Argentina. It belongs to the family Trochilidae and was described by Shaw in 1812. The bird is found in open country, including savannah with scattered trees, forest edges and clearings, plantations, and gardens. It is most often recorded between 400 and 800 m, though it also occurs lower and higher than that. In Brazil it breeds from September to February, and it is known to use man-made habitats readily.
