Gilliard's Honeyeater

Gilliard's Honeyeater, Vosea whitemanensis, is a honeyeater found in montane New Britain in the south-east Bismarck Archipelago, where it is endemic. It lives in subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. The species is the only member of the genus Vosea. It was described by Gilliard in 1960 from birds collected in the Whiteman Mountains on New Britain. It was once placed in Melidectes, but a molecular study in 2019 moved it to its own genus. No subspecies are recognised.
