Glittering-throated Emerald

The Glittering-throated Emerald is a striking hummingbird species found in South America. It is known for its vibrant, iridescent plumage and distinctive glittering throat patch, which shimmers with metallic green and blue hues in the sunlight. This species is typically found in montane and lowland tropical forests, where it feeds on nectar from a variety of flowers and also catches small insects. The Glittering-throated Emerald is known for its agile flight and its high-pitched vocalizations during territorial displays. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
