Glossy Black Cockatoo, Calyptorhynchus lathami, is a bird of eastern and south-eastern Australia in the cockatoo family. It was described by Temminck in 1807. It is the smallest member of its subfamily. Adults can reach 50 cm in length. The species is sexually dimorphic. Males are blackish brown and show a striking red band near the end of the tail. Females are dark brownish, with yellow markings around the neck and a red tail band crossed by black bars.
