The Glossy-mantled Manucode is a medium-sized bird of paradise found in the rainforests of New Guinea. It is known for its glossy black plumage with iridescent blue and green sheen, and a bright blue patch of bare skin around the eye. This species is renowned for its elaborate courtship displays, which involve intricate vocalizations and acrobatic movements. Glossy-mantled Manucodes primarily feed on fruits and insects, and they play an important role in seed dispersal within their forest habitat. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and hunting, the population status of this species is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
