Golden-backed Mountain Tanager Cnemathraupis aureodorsalis is a tanager found in the Andean highlands of central Peru, where it lives in elfin forest. It is a large species with bright plumage. The bird was first described by Blake & Hocking in 1974. It was once placed in Buthraupis, but later moved to Cnemathraupis after a 2010 molecular study showed that the earlier genus did not form a single natural group.
