Golden-backed Weaver

The Golden-backed Weaver is a small, brightly colored bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. Males have striking golden-yellow plumage on their back and head, with black wings and tail. Females are more subtly colored with olive-brown upperparts and yellow underparts. These weavers are known for their intricate, woven nest structures, which hang from the tips of branches. They are often found in savannas, grasslands, and open woodlands, where they forage for seeds and insects. The species is known for its gregarious nature, often forming large flocks outside of the breeding season. The Golden-backed Weaver is not globally threatened and is considered to be of Least Concern by the IUCN.
