Golden-breasted Bunting, Emberiza flaviventris, is a bunting of open woodland across the Sahel and eastern and southern Africa, from southern Mauritania to northern Eritrea and far northern Ethiopia, and from southern DR Congo and far southern South Sudan through eastern Africa to South Africa, except the south-west. It is also found in the Cape to southern South Sudan, with a separate population in southern Angola and Namibia. It favours lightly wooded country, including gardens, and is absent from the equatorial forest belt. Its breeding range is in Africa’s dry open woodland and savanna.
