Golden-breasted Fruitcrow

Pipreola aureopectus

The Golden-breasted Fruitcrow is a striking bird found in the humid forests of the Andes in South America. With its shimmering golden breast and iridescent blue and green plumage, it is a visually stunning species. These birds are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits and occasionally insects. They are known for their distinctive calls and are often found in small groups. The species plays an important role in seed dispersal within its habitat. However, like many forest-dwelling species, the Golden-breasted Fruitcrow faces threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
