Golden-chested Tanager, Bangsia rothschildi, is a bird of Colombia and Ecuador in the family Thraupidae. It was described by Berlepsch in 1897. In its range it occurs in humid forested country, including lowland evergreen forest, pre-montane forest, forest edges, pluvial foothill forest and montane evergreen forest. It is also recorded in the mid-levels and subcanopy. The bird is notable for its glossy dark blue to blackish plumage with blue-violet tones, together with bright golden-yellow on the chest, lower belly, crissum and underwing coverts. It has a large head, a strong short bill and a relatively short tail.
