Golden-collared Macaw

Primolius auricollis

The Golden-collared Macaw, also known as the Yellow-collared Macaw, is a striking parrot species native to South America. These medium-sized parrots are known for their vibrant plumage, which includes shades of green, blue, and yellow. They are social birds, often found in flocks, and are known for their playful and intelligent behavior. Golden-collared Macaws inhabit a variety of forested habitats, including tropical and subtropical forests, where they feed on fruits, seeds, and nuts. Due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, they face conservation challenges, and their population is declining. Efforts are being made to protect their remaining habitat and regulate trade to ensure their survival.
