Golden-crowned babbler

Rhynchostruthus percivali

The Golden-crowned babbler (Rhynchostruthus percivali) is a small, elusive bird species found in the dense undergrowth of primary and secondary lowland forests in the mountains of New Guinea. It has a distinctive golden crown and a striking black and white plumage. These birds are known for their complex vocalizations and are often found in mixed-species flocks foraging for insects and small invertebrates. The Golden-crowned babbler is a socially cooperative species, often seen in groups of 6-12 individuals. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, this species is facing increasing threats to its population.
