Golden-crowned kinglet

Ampeliceps coronatus

The Golden-crowned kinglet is a small songbird found in North America. It is easily identified by its bright yellow crown stripe bordered by black, and its olive-green plumage. These tiny birds are often seen flitting through coniferous forests, where they forage for insects and spiders. Their high-pitched, rapid song is a distinctive feature. Golden-crowned kinglets are known for their energetic behavior, constantly moving and flicking their wings. They are migratory birds, breeding in the northern parts of their range and wintering in the southern regions. Despite their small size, they are resilient and adaptable, thriving in a variety of forested habitats.
