Golden-crowned Sparrow

The Golden-crowned Sparrow is a medium-sized sparrow with a distinctive yellow crown bordered by black stripes. It has a gray face, brownish wings, and a streaked breast. This species is known for its melodic song, often heard in the mountainous and coastal regions of western North America during the breeding season. Golden-crowned Sparrows forage on the ground for seeds, insects, and berries. They are migratory birds, wintering in the western United States. During migration, they can be found in a variety of habitats, including open woodlands, brushy areas, and suburban gardens.
