Golden-faced Tyrannulet

Zimmerius acer

The Golden-faced Tyrannulet is a small, insect-eating bird found in the Andean cloud forests of South America. It is characterized by its bright yellow face and olive-green upperparts. This species is known for its energetic foraging behavior, often seen flitting about in the canopy in search of small insects and spiders. It also emits a high-pitched, rapid trill that is distinctive in its habitat. The Golden-faced Tyrannulet is typically found in montane forests, especially near streams and ravines, where it can be observed in mixed-species flocks. Despite its limited range, this species is not currently considered at risk.
