Golden-fronted bowerbird

Amblyornis flavifrons

The Golden-fronted bowerbird is a medium-sized bird found in the rainforests of New Guinea. It is known for its striking plumage and elaborate courtship displays. The male has a bright yellow forehead and throat, with a black and olive-green body, while the female is more subdued with olive-brown plumage. These birds are renowned for their bower-building behavior, creating intricate and decorated bowers to attract females. They feed on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates, and play an important role in forest ecosystems as seed dispersers. Despite their vibrant appearance, they are often elusive and difficult to spot in the dense rainforest.
