Golden Grosbeak, Pheucticus chrysogaster, is a passerine of the Cardinalidae family that breeds in South America from Venezuela to Peru. It was first described in 1832 by Lesson. The species is a resident bird and is thought to stay in the same general area throughout the year. It occupies open and fairly dry places, including forest edges, woodland, scrub, pasture, cultivated land with trees, and gardens, and it also uses wetter habitats on the eastern side of the Andes in Peru. Its breeding range is split into separate parts across the Andes.
