Golden-hooded Tanager, Stilpnia larvata, is a passerine of Middle America and South America, breeding from southern Mexico to western Ecuador. It is a resident bird of dense forest canopy and semi-open places, including clearings, second growth and well-vegetated gardens, from sea level to 1,500 metres. The adult male shows a golden head with a black eyemask edged in violet blue, while the body is mostly black with turquoise shoulders, rump and wing and tail edges. Females and immatures are less vivid, with greener or duller plumage.
