Golden Monarch, Carterornis chrysomela, is a passerine of the Monarchidae found in the New Guinea region and the New Ireland group of the north-eastern Bismarck Archipelago. It lives in lowland and montane moist forest, including rainforest and swamp forest, and is mainly a canopy bird. Its most distinctive feature is the strong difference between the sexes: the male is golden with black on the face, wings and tail, while the female is golden or golden-olive. Both show a white teardrop mark below the eye.
