Golden Oriole

Oriolus auratus

The Golden Oriole (Oriolus auratus) is a striking bird with vibrant golden-yellow plumage, black wings, and a distinctive red beak. These medium-sized birds are known for their melodious and flute-like song, often heard in their woodland habitats. They are skilled at foraging for insects and fruits in the tree canopies, using their sharp beaks to extract their prey. Golden Orioles are found in broadleaf and mixed woodlands, as well as orchards and parks, across Europe and parts of Asia. Their populations are generally stable, although they may face threats from habitat loss and pesticide use in some areas.
