Golden Parakeet, Guaruba guarouba, is a parrot of north-east Brazil, with breeding in south-east South America in ne Brazil. It is the only member of Guaruba and is also called the golden conure. The bird is mainly golden yellow, with green on the outer wings and an all-yellow tail. It inhabits drier upland rainforest in the Amazon Basin, especially in Pará, and its range also reaches adjacent northern Maranhão. It is a social species that lives, feeds, sleeps and breeds in groups, and pairs are helped by others when raising young.
