Touit surdus
The Golden-tailed Parrotlet (Touit surdus) is a small, vibrant parrot species native to the Amazon rainforest. These parrotlets are known for their striking plumage, featuring a bright green body, a golden-yellow tail, and a red crown. They are highly social birds, often found in small flocks, and are known for their playful and inquisitive nature. Their diet primarily consists of fruits, seeds, and flowers. Golden-tailed Parrotlets are typically found in the canopy of tropical rainforests, where they forage for food and seek out nesting sites. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, they are facing increasing threats to their survival.
