Golden Vireo, Vireo hypochryseus, is a passerine of western Mexico and breeds in Middle America in the west of the country. It belongs to the Vireonidae family and was first described by Sclater in 1863. It is confined to Mexico, with the nominate form ranging from Sinaloa to Oaxaca, V. h. nitidus restricted to Sonora, and V. h. sordidus limited to the Tres Marías Islands off Nayarit. It lives in deciduous and gallery forest, arid to semi-humid scrub, and plantations in the tropical zone.
