Golden-whiskered Barbet

Psilopogon chrysopogon (Temminck, 1824)

Golden-whiskered Barbet, Psilopogon chrysopogon, is an Asian barbet of the Oriental Region, breeding in the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. It is found in forests across that range, including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forest and montane forest, and has also been recorded in cacao plantations and secondary growth. A yellow moustache runs from each side of the black bill to the ear canal, and the throat is blue. The head carries small blue and red markings, the eyes are ringed in blue, and the forecrown is pale yellow with red patches beside the bill.
