Brotogeris pyrrhoptera
The Golden-winged Parakeet (Brotogeris pyrrhoptera) is a charming small parrot native to the Amazon rainforest. These social birds are known for their vibrant plumage, featuring a bright green body, golden-yellow wings, and a red patch on the shoulder. They are highly vocal and often communicate with high-pitched calls. Golden-winged Parakeets form large flocks and are often seen foraging for fruits, seeds, and nuts in the canopy. They are also known to visit clay licks to obtain essential minerals. Unfortunately, habitat loss and capture for the pet trade are significant threats to their population.
