Trochilidae — Hummingbirds

Gorgeted Puffleg, Eriocnemis isabellae, is a hummingbird found in south-west Colombia, where it is confined to the Serranía del Pinche in Cauca. It lives in very wet cloudforest and elfin forest on steep slopes, with rocky openings and natural clearings, mainly between 2,600 and 2,900 m. The male is notable for a glittering violet-blue gorget edged with green, a feature said to be unique among pufflegs. The species was first found in 2005 and recognised as new to science in 2007.
