Grandala, Grandala coelicolor, is a thrush found in the Himalayas and across to central China, with breeding in the Oriental Region from the Himalayas to c China. It belongs to the family Turdidae and was described by Hodgson in 1843. It is the only species in its genus. The bird occurs in Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Tibet, and in other parts of China as far north as southeast Gansu. It is linked to high mountain country, including alpine scrub and meadows, and moves to lower ground in winter.
