Grant's Scops Owl (Athene granti) is a small owl species found in eastern Africa. It has a distinct heart-shaped facial disk with yellow eyes and prominent ear tufts. Its plumage varies from gray to reddish-brown with intricate patterns for camouflage. These nocturnal birds primarily feed on insects, small mammals, and birds. Grant's Scops Owls prefer semi-arid savannas and open woodlands as their habitat, where they roost in tree cavities during the day. They are known for their distinctive hooting calls during the night. Despite being relatively common within their range, their population trend is unknown, and they are currently categorized as Least Concern by the IUCN.
