Gray-crowned Prinia

Bradypterus brunneus

The Gray-crowned Prinia is a small, insectivorous bird found in the grasslands and scrublands of East Africa. It is characterized by its gray crown and olive-brown upperparts, with a white throat and belly. This species is known for its distinctive, repetitive song, often heard during the breeding season. Gray-crowned Prinias forage for insects and spiders in low vegetation, using their slender bill to capture prey. They build dome-shaped nests low in bushes or grasses, where they raise their young. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to this species.
