Gray-crowned Yellowthroat

Geothlypis poliocephala

The Gray-crowned Yellowthroat is a small, migratory bird found in the highlands of Mexico and Central America. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, bright yellow throat, and distinctive gray crown. This species prefers dense, shrubby habitats near streams, wetlands, and forest edges. It forages for insects and small invertebrates in the undergrowth, using its sharp bill to probe for food. The Gray-crowned Yellowthroat is not currently considered globally threatened, but habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to its populations.
