Nigrita canicapillus

The Gray-headed Nigrita, scientifically known as Nigrita canicapillus, is a small passerine bird native to the African continent. This species is characterized by its distinctive gray head and upperparts, with a contrasting black mask around the eyes. The underparts are generally white with a hint of buff color on the flanks. Gray-headed Nigritas are often found in open woodlands, savannas, and forest edges where they forage for seeds, insects, and fruits. They are known for their melodious and varied songs, often heard during the breeding season. Despite being relatively common in its range, the conservation status of the Gray-headed Nigrita is currently labeled as Least Concern by the IUCN.
