Ammomanopsis grayi
Gray's Lark (Ammomanopsis grayi) is a small, ground-dwelling bird found in the arid and semi-arid regions of southern Africa. This lark is well-adapted to its harsh environment, with a cryptic plumage that provides excellent camouflage among the sandy and rocky terrain. It is known for its distinctive song, which consists of a series of melodious whistles. Gray's Lark forages for seeds and insects on the ground, using its long, slender bill to probe the soil. Despite its specialized habitat requirements, this species is facing threats from habitat degradation and human disturbance.
