Gray-tailed Mountain-gem

Lampornis cinereicauda

Gray-tailed Mountain-gem, Lampornis cinereicauda, is a hummingbird of the mountains of south-central Costa Rica and western Panama. It lives in oak forest, using the interior, the margins and shrubby openings, and it also occurs in gardens near forested communities. This bird is a year-round resident. It has sometimes been treated as a separate species, and it is the form with the grey tail. Its range runs from 1,500 m to timberline, with a stronghold in the Cordillera de Talamanca and the far west of Panama.
