Great Rosefinch, Carpodacus rubicilla, is a finch of the Fringillidae family that breeds across the Palearctic, from the Caucasus through the Pamirs to the Altai and the Himalaya. It uses barren or stunted alpine country in its breeding range, including parts of south-west Russia, northern Georgia and northern Azerbaijan, as well as areas from Afghanistan to eastern Kazakhstan, western and northern Xinjiang, south-central Russia, western Mongolia, southern Tibet and the Inner Himalayas to Qinghai. Outside the breeding season it moves to lower ground, including villages and fields.
