Great Shrike-Tyrant

Agriornis lividus (Kittlitz, 1835)

Great Shrike-Tyrant, Agriornis lividus, is a passerine of the Tyrannidae family that breeds in Chile and southern Argentina. It is a year-round resident in semi-arid to moister country, including scrub with cacti and bromeliads, open shrubby ground, pastures with nearby cover, agricultural land and open Nothofagus woodland. It avoids dense forest and settled places. The nominate form occurs in Chile from the Atacama Region to Valdivia, while A. l. fortis is found in far southern Chile and from southern Neuquén to Tierra del Fuego in Argentina.
