Great-tailed Grackle

Quiscalus niger

The Great-tailed Grackle is a medium-sized blackbird found in North and South America. Males are glossy black with a long, keel-shaped tail, while females are smaller and brown with a shorter tail. These birds are highly adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, including urban areas, marshes, and open woodlands. They are known for their loud and varied vocalizations, often forming large, noisy flocks. Great-tailed Grackles are omnivorous, feeding on insects, fruits, and small vertebrates. Their populations are generally stable, although they may face some threats from habitat loss and urbanization.
