Great-tailed Grackle

Quiscalus mexicanus

The Great-tailed Grackle is a large, noisy blackbird found in a variety of habitats across North and Central America. Males are glossy black with a long, keel-shaped tail, while females are smaller and brownish-black. These birds are highly adaptable and often congregate in urban areas, where they are known for their raucous calls and bold behavior. Great-tailed Grackles are omnivorous and feed on a wide range of foods, including insects, fruits, and human scraps. They build their nests in trees and shrubs, often in colonies. Despite their adaptability, habitat loss and urbanization pose threats to their populations.
