Great Woodswallow, Artamus maximus, is a passerine of montane New Guinea in Australasia and a member of the Artamidae. It breeds in tropical moist mountain forest, especially where clearings and dead trees break the canopy, and it is often seen near Highland towns such as Mount Hagen and Goroka. It is the largest species in Artamus. Compared with the white-breasted woodswallow, it has a darker upper side and a black semi-oval mark below the throat. It was described by Meyer, AB, 1874.
